It has been confirmed that his son from Tokyo came from March 17th ~ 20th and developed a fever on the 18th, but did not go to a health center. He returned to Tokyo on the 20th and used the Bullet Train to travel from Tokyo to Shinjo. There are eight family members who were in close contact with him and they're also being tested (including family members such as his son and potentially at least one nursery-age child). The family is currenlty self-isolating at home.

Other details are currently being investigated at this moment.

From the Governor: If you have symptoms, please contact your regional Health Center. Be calm, continue good hygienic practices, and don't gather in large groups - especially young people. Also please refrain from having visitors from outside of the prefecture, especially in highly infected areas such as Tokyo.

The person who tested positive for coronavirus is a female in her 20's who came into the Prefecture on March 24th via Shinkansen to participate in the Yonezawa Driving School. She is a resident of Kanagawa. The virus probably came before she came into the prefecture.

On March 27th after 4 pm, she had a fever and on March 29th, checked into the Okitama Health Care Center.

She took a PCR-based exam on the afternoon of March 30th, and her results came back as positive.

The person will be taken and hospitalized in a local hospital.

Persons who were in close contact with her are also going to be tested, including the three people staying with her.

The Yonezawa Driving School will be closed for the time being.

The prefectural information meetings for new hires are also cancelled.

The Governor would like to emphasis the following three points:

1. Please stay calm.

2. Please continue being diligent about proper hygiene care such as hand washing, coughing etiquitte, and other preventative measurements

3. As she stated in her statement on March 28th: Young people especially be careful of your actions, as even if you are asymptomatic, you could affect the elderly and immunocompromised people around you.

If you feel like you could be affected, please check into the nearest Health Care Center. It is STRONGLY advised not to travel outside of the prefecture nor to gather/socialize in big groups.

Please take care everyone!
